Most people came to Canada due to better job opportunities and better lives. Italians came from Italy to Canada during 1880 and 1914 because of The Great War. In 1880-1914 Italian immigrants came to Canada in large numbers for the first time. In the great war, millions of Italians immigrated to South America and U.S.A but a small group immigrated to Canada. Between 1910 and 1924 Italians started to build homes in the urban areas. John Cabot was one of the first Italians to visit and settle in Canada during 1497.
